Recognize that? I did, almost right away. That was written on a students shirt and as I peered at it attempting to see what the last line of it said, I saw it.
Kurt Cobain.
Of course! His suicide note.
Then I thought, hmmm rather depressing shirt to be wearing. SO me being me, I needed to ask. Now I know this is the land of stoopid English shirts, and that many people don’t read them/know what they mean, but this kid was kind of cool, in his 20’s and so I made an assumption.
Me: you’re shirt is kind of depressing. do you know what it means?
Kid: no, I didn’t read. I don’t know the English.
Me: Ok well (insert explanation of words). Do you know who Kurt Cobain was?
Kid: No, never heard of him.
Me: (I don’t often know band member’s names so I can get that) OH, well, you know “Nirvana” as I write it on the board.
Kid: (copies the name down in his book) No, I don’t know.
Me: (horror, OMFG, am I entering that musically filled cliche era of life already or is this just a Korean thing or a combination of both) Um, ok, well, download it and tell me what you think.
