1. Husband lost wallet and all ID – introduce me as new sugar momma.
2. Explaining to students that although Koreans might enjoy ‘bum and poo’ jokes, it’s best not to share them with international people. When asked why, the best I could come up with was “Because it’s poo!!”
3. Helped 2 people with directions and chased after one man who had left his bag at a restaurant.
4. New hair cut and highlights! Thank you Johnny at Zen Hair.
5. Still contemplating my response to the post “Why do foreigners complain so much?”
6. Perfecting my ability to use my bra as long range snapping device to kill mosquitoes at 2 in the morning (WHOA that sounds dirty, but really it isn’t. It’s more that our place is so small that I can’t reach the suckers when they are on the corner wall… whatever, I was tired, you would do it too)
7. Went to the doctor about a burn on my finger that turned into eczema – ended up talking more about his travels in Canada than my finger. When he asked what my schedule was like, I was hesitant to answer, thinking, I don’t really feel like talking about your international travel – oh wait, you want to do a follow up appointment… same, same different??
8. Becoming a bit of a health freak – almost daily smoothies! I even bought a blender.
9. Been cooking some kick ass meals at home, yeah me!!
10. Haven’t been studying Korean, instead am coming up with funny responses to the question:
“So, how’s your Korean?”
“He’s fine thanks.”
** a few more
11. I saw a man hit by a car on Monday. I don’t mean just hit, I actually only saw the lower half of his body up in the air after hearing the screech of tires.
12. I gave my first speech at Toastmasters and I think it went pretty well.

#8–Yay, smoothies! Yay, blenders!!!
#10–Bwah, haha!!! (As you know) you’ll have to answer that question a lot, so better to find humorous responses.

LOL – I like #10! I can’t believe you saw someone hit by a car – and only saw half their body, how horrible. Good for you about the Toastmasters – definitely something I would run away from as fast as possible! But I suppose you’re getting used to speaking in front of people now

For mosquitoes — they sell these racket-like things in the subway which zaps the mosquitoes with some electricity. It may sound cruel, but I can honestly say I love my racket. Makes the nighttime killing far more efficient, and probably works well on caterpillars and other hairy creatures.

Jennifer – I tried them when I lived in Taiwan but it seemed like a lot of effort to be wildly swinging around in the middle of the night…. also, mosquitoes there were so slow! We used to say that they were drunk – they had erratic flight and seemed to be all over the place. Perhaps it’s time to give it another go!

Sarah – it’s actually quite fun and almost exhilarating. Of course I am also more accustomed to speaking front of groups now but at the TM I attend, at times, there can be upwards of 50 people! SO yeah, there’s some sweating going on but really everyone is so supportive it makes you want to participate more.
